Upcoming Workshop — Basic Beehive Inspection, April 22, 2:00 p.m., Free

Are you a new beekeeper or interested in becoming one? Would you like to learn the basics of a hive inspection? Come join us for a hive inspection tutorial at 2:00 p.m. on April 22. Scott Johnson and Paul Zelenski will host this free meetup at the Low Technology Institute (11927 West Highway 59). It is free but space may be limited, so please RSVP with Scott to hold your place.

Scott runs the Low Technology Institute and is in his second season of beekeeping. He also builds several different hive styles from scratch in his workshop. Paul is an experienced local beekeeper who has been successfully overwintering bees and selling local nucs for the past few years and is the beekeeping coach for the newly-formed Hometown Hives.

We will have basic tools and other accoutrements for you to get familiar with, but please bring your own equipment (veil, gloves, etc.) if you have them. Paul will also be offering a multi-session, hands-on course later this summer covering hive management with a focus on successful overwintering; this would be a good chance to meet him. Scott is also building and selling hives this spring.
