We are excited to announce that the Low Technology Institute will be hosting the 2024 Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence, August 23–25. This weekend event will bring together people from around the region for classes, discussions, socializing, good food, and more.
Sessions
Sessions are the core of the weekend. This year, topics range widely, from hands-on classes like basketry, earthen plasters, beekeeping, and flax fiber processing to livestock, breathwork, agroforestry, and more. You can see the full descriptions and leader bios here. Below is the weekend’s schedule.
On Saturday evening, after dinner, Scott will be moderating a panel discussion of “localism” with a number of session leaders and community members.
Other Info
You can join us for the whole weekend for $150 or just Saturday or Sunday for $100 or $90 respectively. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as camping possibilities. Tickets can be purchased through eventbrite. If that price point is a barrier, a sliding scale is available, so do not be shy. Also, don’t forget to print and fill out the liability waiver.
The permaculture convergence is unusual in that you’re part of the crew and it is zero waste, which adds up to a lower-cost (and impact) event. It isn’t an event where you’re just a visitor. Bring your own bowl, plate, cup, and utensils for your meals (a wash-up station is provided). You’re outside all or most of the weekend, so appropriate clothing is encourage. A ride-share is available for those coming from farther away and/or who want to reduce the number of cars on the road. A tabling space hosts a free exchange of produce, seeds, plant cuttings, books, session facilitators’ goods, and more. Bring some to share! See the full “survival guide” for more.
We’ll share more over the coming weeks leading up to the event!
