Bee Report — Late Winter Check Up

We stopped out to check on the bees yesterday, at the end of a 62°F day. The bees were out in droves. Both hives seem to be doing well: active flights and the hives are still heavy with honey.

I’ll leave you with a video and a few photos.

A short video of the girls landing:

Hive 1: Note the pile of dead bees below the door. During the winter, mortuary bees drag their dead comrades out and push them out the door.

Hive 2: The entrance is a bit more guarded, but still had plenty of bees headed in and out. All the yellow spots are bee droppings.
