We had a board meeting on Monday night and it resulted in some behind-the-scenes improvements here at the Low Technology Institute. The board unanimously approved our bylaws and articles of incorporation. These are designed and written to meet IRS guidelines for non-profit organiations, and they are a big step towards the institute becoming an official 501(c)-3 in the future. We also discussed upcoming programming and a membership drive coming later this spring.
The big change you might have noticed already is that our web address has changed from lowtechinstitute.wordpress.com to lowtechinstitute.org. Don’t worry, your bookmarks and links to the old URLs will still bring you to the right page.
Additionally, Scott Johnson — the founder of the institute — was named as its first director.
Stay tuned for more changes as we find and move into a permanent location, as we’ll start offering workshops and hands-on research updates.
