Friend of the institute, Lynn L., recently donated two decades–worth of Small Farmer’s Journal to our lending library. Thanks to Lynn for her generosity and thanks also for reminding me to promote these community resources!
Resource Library
Our resource library can be accessed from any page on our website by going to the “Libraries” in the main menu or following this link: https://lowtechinstitute.org/library/. The page is organized into five genre of information: feed, clothe, house, transport, and general. Some of the titles are available for online viewing, others are hard copies here at the institute, and a few are both! Send us an email (info@lowtechinstitute.org) or call ahead (608-886-9584) to borrow a title today.
Tool Library
We also have a wide variety of tools for anyone to come and borrow to use for their home projects. Did you ever have a one-time project that requires a specialty tool? Don’t buy that tile cutter to just sit in your garage for years: come borrow ours! We’ve got hand tools and limited power tools for you to use. Simply go to the tool library under the “Libraries” tab on the menu or follow this link: https://lowtechinstitute.org/tool-library/. Choose your tool and fill out a reservation form: https://goo.gl/forms/08DpiNeEZfINm0u92. Then the tool is yours! Do you already have a circular saw or drill but have a friend coming to help you work and it’d help to have a second set? Use ours!
Our goal is to help one another more fully utilize the resources we have available. We take donations of items, funds, or time for either of the libraries. Thanks for your interest.
