Things have been quiet online here at lowtechinstitute.org but we’ve been busy in the real world. If you’ve been missing the podcast, blog updates, and videos, consider coming out this weekend to help us shift building materials around and catch up with us and new friends. Saturday, 9a-12p at LTI.
“Think of it as one of those expensive work-out boot camps but for free and productive.”
Details

We’re building a house with local materials. Currently ten tons of stone are sitting by our back entrance and need to be shifted to the building site. We have a tram to ease the moving, but the stones still need to be loaded and unloaded. We also have sand to shovel into buckets and move as well as a few trenches to dig clean from winter mess.
We’ll start at 9a, meeting at our rear entrance (ca. 11928 W. Church Street, Cooksville, WI 53536). Park along Church Street, as off the road as possible. Wear close-toed shoes and layers. We have work gloves, but feel free to bring your own. We have plenty of shovels. Shifting rocks and sand is fairly clean work, but if you want to dig out the trenches, it may be muddy.
We’ll provide water, lemonade, ice tea, and probably some sweet treats. We’ll give an LTI tour at some point as a break.
Let us know you’re coming so that we can have enough to eat and drink on hand. Send us an email or drop your name in the form below. Thanks!
