Garden Tour, Sunday, August 11, 3 p.m.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by weeds this season? Have I got the garden tour for you to know you’re not alone. We’ll be hosting a group from the Sustainable Gardening Club out of Madison this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. You’re welcome to stop by.

Stops on the Tour

We’ll hit the highlights of the garden and property this weekend. We’ll start by the house and work our way down our narrow lot. We’ll stop by an herb garden, raised beds, lasagna beds, and beds in preparation. We can stop in the under-construction greenhouse that is built into the ground and has a mass heater stove built this spring. We will spend time in the perennial area with berries, fruit trees, and others.

The chickens, their coop, and their role in the garden will be discussed. The bee shed full of our pollinators and our out-plot, full of corn, beans, amaranth, flax, and other plants will be visited.

Along the way we’ll talk about the difficulties and challenges we faced and continue to contend with as we convert this property in to a food-generating machine. I’ll also discuss my one-hour-per-day gardening project.
