Foodmageddon: Work!

For the last few years, I’ve been tracking my horticultural hours as part of my hour-per-day gardening series. The goal was to quantify just how much time it took me to grow what I did each year. We have a big garden and people often commented that it seemed like it would take a lot of time. Last year, for example, I logged 46 minutes per day.

I don’t know how much more time it will take me for the grow-your-own project. It is a bit more growing than I did in the past, but because we have to depend on the food I grow, I anticipate that I’ll be spending more time being careful about weeds and plant support. Even still, it might average out to about two hours per day. It’ll be much more in the spring and fall, but less over the middle of the growing season and winter.
